Manitoulin Transport Jeff Smith Nature Conservancy of Canada John GrantMISSISSAUGA, Ontario —  Manitoulin Transport has donated a total of $100,000 to Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) with this year’s annual holiday gift. The funds will be used to help NCC deliver on its mandate to conserve and protect natural habitats in Canada of ecological significance.

“We are delighted to continue our support of NCC — a highly respected organization known to produce tangible results,” said Jeff Smith, executive-vice president, Manitoulin Transport and Manitoulin Group of Companies. “Our company is national in scope and we care deeply about the communities across Canada where we do business and where our staff and customers live. The holidays are a time for giving and it simply makes sense to support NCC in their mandate of nature preservation which benefits us all and aligns with our company’s core value of operating with integrity.”

“We thank Manitoulin Transport for the generous donation and for their continued and significant support over many years,” said John Grant, program director, midwestern Ontario, NCC. ” During the time that Manitoulin Transport first got involved with NCC, the importance of conservation was not nearly as well understood as it is today. Manitoulin Transport has shown great leadership, not just within their own industry but among companies in general, by getting involved and staying involved with NCC and our important work. It is very gratifying to have the support of a company of such calibre as Manitoulin Transport and we look forward to many more years of partnership with them.”

“As a transportation and logistics company, we fully understand that just one breakdown in a chain can unsettle an entire process,” said Smith. “Nature operates in a similar way, which is why we take steps to operate our business in a socially responsible manner and to limit our impact on the environment. In fact, Manitoulin Transport is the first transportation company in Canada to be certified in ISO 14001 — a world-renowned environmental management standard. Contributing to NCC enables us to go a step further and help protect ecologically important land in Canada and the species that call it home — for its intrinsic value, and for the benefit and enjoyment of generations to come. We hope our support of NCC inspires others to do the same.”
