Manitoulin Transport Acquires Provost Freight Lines of Alberta – Expanding Transportation Services in Western Canada

Edmonton, Alberta – Manitoulin Transport recently purchased Provost Freight Lines of Provost, Alberta.  This latest acquisition further strengthens Manitoulin’s ability to provide coverage in smaller markets by adding several new service points in Western Canada.

Since 1989, Provost Freight Lines has been serving the oilfield industry and the stores that supply them, as well as general businesses and residential customers in need of efficient and cost-effective delivery services.  Operating throughout Alberta and West Central Saskatchewan, Provost offers next-day service.

“Bringing Provost into the Manitoulin Group of Companies will provide additional infrastructure and capacity,” said Jeff King, president, Manitoulin Transport.  “This expansion will further enhance our service offering by providing more direct coverage to our customers and expanding their reach domestically, throughout North America, and around the globe.”

“The Provost staff are thrilled to be part of the Manitoulin Group of Companies and to have both teams working closely together,” said Carrie Cuthbertson of Provost Freight Lines.  “Manitoulin has a great reputation in the industry and we are excited to expand the service offerings to our loyal customers.”

“Manitoulin Transport has the most extensive transportation network in North America,” said Gord Smith, CEO, Manitoulin Group of Companies.  “As a single-source carrier, we offer a wide array of transportation services including expedited less than truckload and truckload, heavy-haul, transborder, intermodal, private fleet, guaranteed service, temperature-controlled, dangerous goods, global freight forwarding, customs brokerage, and supply chain management.  By adding Provost to our service offering, we are confident that our customers will benefit from our enhanced transportation services and expanded network.

Manitoulin and Provost will benefit from co-branding for the foreseeable future to maintain their brand equity.
